2190: The common Thunderbird might be one of the most cunning predators of the post apocalyptic wasteland. They thrive around large pools of mercury, where they hunt for mutants. Like all endemic species of the radioactive desert that is pretty much everywhere, they sometimes rely on cannibalism to sustain themselves. Cute, right? Those are the wonders of the world after a nuclear holocaust.
